Capleach Jackson 8919 – a very special stallion

Pedigree Chart of Capleach Jackson 8919

This seven generation chart is of a very special Suffolk stallion.   He is remarkable in that he is probably the least closely related to all the English Suffolk stallions listed on the current UK Suffolk Horse Society website.   As such, he is genetic gold.

Jackson was bred and foaled in Australia in 2003, but exported to New Zealand as a young colt.   His grandsire was Mistyvale Oberon 8785, foaled in New Zealand;  his grand dam was Colony Zodiac 28232.   The closest time link to the UK is via his sire, Samford Jack 8850, foaled in 1996 who was exported to Australia in the late 1990’s.

Since January this year, a campaign has been underway in New Zealand to raise funds to harvest and store semen from Jackson.    See:  http://www.stuff.co.nz/the-press/news/90030260/The-mission-to-save-NZs-last-remaining-rare-Suffolk-Punch-horses   together with https://givealittle.co.nz/cause/savethesuffolks

It seems a little strange that burden of raising funds which have the potential to aid the UK Suffolk horse should be on the shoulders of New Zealanders and Australians.

Here is something immensely practical that all Suffolk Punch supporters can do.  The sum being aimed for is NZ$20,000 or £10,656.21 or US$13,774.00 (this sum also includes money for research for Embryo Transfer with Calcott Calendula 28417).

Wherever you are in the world, please donate.    Capleach Jackson is registered and licensed by the Suffolk Horse Society, as such his frozen semen, if successfully harvested and tested, could be sent to the UK, the USA and Australia.

Please help.
